You said Clus’Ter?

Lons-le-Saunier, a French town in the Jura department with a favourable background due to a deeply-rooted cooperative spirit, has been a breeding-ground for culture, energy and inventiveness since 2014.

Clus’ter Jura came into existence as a result of a national call for local economic cooperation cluster projects. It is a special, trans-sectoral cluster, the suffix “Ter” standing for “territory”: the cluster brings together both for-profit and SSE economic players, local development experts, partner networks and local authorities to create new economic sectors (industry and services) in the circular economy and the energy transition that meet local social needs.

To achieve this, a methodology modelled on technological R&D processes has been developed which takes local needs as a starting point. Nurturing the ability to listen, to challenge assumptions and to back projects is expected to result in the emergence of new economic forms capable of boosting the job market.


This autumn, the second edition of Startup de territoire, a giant brainstorming session in the form of creative, open-to-all workshops became a springboard for new project ideas.

All the ingredients of an energy transition contract seem to be gathered here, with collective intelligence serving the general interest.
