Fostering the use of renewables for heating and cooling: Final results of the progRESsHEAT project

By Floriane Cappelletti on 7 December 2017

The progRESsHEAT project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, has come to an end. The past 2,5 years were very productive and the project partners have got much to share with you!

Project results

progRESsHEAT has been assisting local, regional, national and EU political leaders in developing policy and strategies to ensure a quick and efficient deployment of renewables in heating and cooling networks.

Together with six local authorities in six target countries across Europe (Ansfelden - Austria, Herten - Germany, Litomerice - Czech Republic, Helsingor - Denmark, Matosinhos - Portugal, and Brasov - Romania), heating and cooling strategies have been developed through a profound analysis of (1) heating and cooling demand and future developments, (2) long-term potential of renewable energies and waste heat in the regions, (3) barriers & drivers and (4) a model-based assessment of policy intervention in scenarios up to 2050.

You will find all results of the work carried out by the progRESsHEAT team in the Resources section of the project website, under 6 categories:

  • Local strategy development process
  • National analysis
  • Policy recommendations
  • Training materials
  • Webinars
  • Event reports.

Furthermore, the progRESsHEAT online data mapper will provide you with information on the heating and cooling sector in the case study countries, regions and cities.

Hey, wait!

On the same topic, we invite you to follow the HotMaps and HeatNet projects, in which Energy Cities is also a partner.

Thank you very much
